Apple to Postpone iPhone 15 Pro Max Shipments, Now Expected in October
As anticipation builds for Apple's highly awaited September launch event, the spotlight is on the iPhone 15 lineup. Among the forthcoming devices, the Pro Max variant is generating significant buzz for its inclusion of a periscope camera. However, this new feature might come at a cost, as reports indicate that Sony, a key sensor supplier, is grappling with meeting the robust demand for the required camera sensors.
Sensor Supply Struggles Threaten Delay
The potential supply disruption threatens to cause a delay in the delivery of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Citing information from a "major equity analyst note," reliable source 9to5Mac suggests that customers could experience a setback of up to four weeks in receiving their eagerly anticipated devices.

The Potential Impact on Deliveries
Originally, Apple's schedule had the announcement of the iPhone 15 series slated for September 13, followed by pre-orders opening on September 15. The initial plan was for deliveries to commence a week later.
However, due to the projected delay of three to four weeks resulting from sensor shortages, the expected delivery window for the Pro Max variant has shifted to occur between October 6 and October 13.
Disparity Among Models
The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max is set to receive a significant camera upgrade, with a periscope lens system taking center stage. This new feature promises to provide enhanced optical zoom capabilities, surpassing the current 3x zoom limit.
The smaller iPhone 15 Pro, however, will not have the same advanced camera system as its bigger sibling.
A History of Production Challenges
Apple is no stranger to production-related woes. The launch of the iPhone XR was notably delayed compared to the XS series due to component shipment issues faced by manufacturer Pegatron. Likewise, a couple of years later, the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max followed their counterparts, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, into the market due to similar supply chain setbacks.
