Apple Likely To Launch New iPhone Twice A Year, Just Like Samsung
Apple has set a tradition of launching its latest iPhones once a year, in September. The new crop of iPhones is generally made available a month later. Other tech giants, Samsung for example, have multiple launches where smartphones and other tech gadgets are released more than once in a year. It looks like Apple might soon take a page from Samsung's book.
Apple Two Launch Events Every Year
A report by the MarketWatch from Samik Chatterjee, JP Morgan states that Apple could change its decade-long launch strategy. The new iPhones and products coming out in 2021 could have two launch events, one in Spring and one in Fall. Apple iPhone launches can be split up, where one would be in Q1 and another in Q3 or Q4.
The report states the new Apple strategy is similar to what Samsung is following for years now. Generally, Samsung launches its Galaxy S devices in the first half of the year, likely in Spring. The Samsung Galaxy Note devices are launched later on, mostly during the Fall season. Samsung isn't the only one. Huawei also follows a similar pattern with its P and Mate series smartphones.
What To Expect?
If Apple does decide to have two launch events, we can expect two flagship devices. Or, Apple could launch the next variant of the iPhone first and the Pro variant later in the year. It could also be possible that Apple might roll out iPhone in the first launch event and other gadgets and accessories in the second event.
Whatever the decision is, it certainly means an important strategical change for Apple. Moreover, having two launch events could also help the company with diminishing iPhone sales. Having two launch events would also mean less stress for Apple's manufacturing units as the orders can be split up.
Plus, this won't be the first time Apple had two launch events. Back in 2016, Apple had launched two iPhones, where the mid-range iPhone SE was introduced. But the second launch was a simple show, where the CEO, Time Cook was also not present. If Apple does have two launch events, it will be hosted on the usual grand scale.
