Asus likely to launch ZenFone 5 series at MWC 2018; press invites out
If recent reports are to be believed, the Asus ZenFone 5 series will consist of smartphones such as ZenFone 5 (2018), ZenFone 5 Lite and ZenFone 5 Max.
With less than a month left for MWC 2018, many manufacturers has already announced their participation in the event as exhibitors. Companies like Samsung, HMD Global (license holder for Nokia brand), Sony and Xiaomi are expected to unveil their new offerings at the upcoming MWC in February in Barcelona. Now, Taiwanese OEM Asus has confirmed that it will be present at the event.
Asus will be hosting a launch event that will take place during the MWC 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. The event is slated for February 27 and it will kick off at 7:30 PM CET (12 AM IST). The company has also started sending out invites for the launch event. Asus, however, has not revealed the names of any of the smartphones that will be showcased at the MWC event.
The launch invite also doesn't give away much. As you can see, it contains a text that reads #BACKTO5. The number 5 indicates that Asus may launch the ZenFone 5 series smartphones at the event. At the right bottom, there is another text saying, we love photos. This means, the smartphones will be camera-focused.
Lastly, the invite confirms the presence of Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors on its upcoming smartphones. Unfortunately, the name of the chipset is not specified. That said, there are chances that Asus's ZenFone 5 series of smartphones will be powered by the latest flagship processor Snapdragon 845.
If recent reports are to be believed, the ZenFone 5 series will consist of smartphones such as ZenFone 5 (2018), ZenFone 5 Lite and ZenFone 5 Max. We have already seen the alleged ZenFone 5 Max and ZenFone 5 Lite appearing in a few leaks.
It was just yesterday when the Asus ZenFone 5 Max carrying the model number ASUS_X00QD received Wi-Fi certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA). As listed on Wi-Fi certification website, the smartphone will run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and it will support connectivity features like dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n (2.4GHz, 5GHz) and LTE capabilities.
The Asus ZenFone 5 Lite, on the other hand, was certified in Russia. The certification revealed the smartphone would have a model number ZC600KL, where KL means that it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
