CMF Phone (1) Specs Leaked: Could It Be a Rebadged Nothing Phone (2a)?

Nothing's sub-brand CMF (Color, Material, Finish) is set to launch its first smartphone in India, the CMF Phone (1). Leaks suggest it might be a budget-friendly option with familiar features, but with a twist.

Leaked Specifications Hint at Familiar Hardware

As per a leak from @realMlgmXyysd on X, the CMF Phone (1) is expected to sport a large 6.67-inch OLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it could pack a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC, the same processor powering the Nothing Phone (2a). This suggests similar performance capabilities for both devices when handling everyday tasks and applications.

In terms of memory, leaks suggest the CMF Phone (1) might come with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and offer storage options of 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.2. There's also a possibility of expandable storage via a MicroSD card slot.

The camera department on the CMF Phone (1) seems to be a mixed bag. While leaks point to a dual rear camera system with a 50MP primary sensor, the details of the secondary sensor remain unclear. The front-facing camera is rumored to be a 16MP sensor, which falls short of the Nothing Phone (2a)'s 32MP offering.

Keeping the phone powered is likely to be a 5,000mAh battery, which is becoming increasingly common in smartphones. The CMF Phone (1) might support 33W fast charging, which is a bit slower compared to the Nothing Phone (2a)'s 45W fast charging.

On the software side, the CMF Phone (1) is expected to run the latest Android 14 with Nothing OS 2.6 on top.

Rebranded or Budget Alternative?

The leaked specifications for the CMF Phone (1) bear a striking resemblance to the Nothing Phone (2a). This has led many to believe that the CMF Phone (1) might be a rebranded version of the Nothing Phone (2a) with some design changes, such as a replaceable plastic back cover instead of the transparent back with Glyph lights found on the Nothing Phone (2a).

Pricing and Availability

Earlier reports suggested a budget-friendly starting price of Rs 12,000 (around $140) for the CMF Phone (1) in India. However, a recent leak contradicts this, hinting at a price range between $249 and $279 USD. With conflicting information, the exact pricing remains a mystery for now.
