ColorOS 16 Open Beta Now Live in India for Oppo Find X8, X8 Pro, and Reno 14: Here's How to Install
Oppo is getting ready to release its next big software update. The company has officially launched the ColorOS 16 Open Beta for select devices, allowing users to try Android 16 early before the stable version goes live. This beta marks the final stage in Oppo’s testing cycle and gives a glimpse of what’s next for its flagship lineup.
ColorOS 16 Testing Expands to More Users
The Open Beta is currently available for the Oppo Find X8, Find X8 Pro, and Reno 14 across India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Applications are open until October 13, and users who are accepted will receive the update via OTA (over-the-air).
Oppo has been testing Android 16 internally since April, starting with early developer previews for the Find X8. A closed beta followed in August, and now with the open beta going public, a stable ColorOS 16 rollout is expected later this month—likely after the global ColorOS 16 launch event on September 15.
How to Apply for the ColorOS 16 Open Beta
If you own one of the eligible devices, here’s how to sign up:
Check your phone’s firmware version:
- Oppo Find X8: CPH2651_15.0.0.860(EX01)
- Oppo Find X8 Pro: CPH2659_15.0.0.860(EX01)
- Oppo Reno 14: CPH2737_15.0.2.602(EX01) or CPH2737_15.0.2.502(EX01)
- Open the Settings app.
- Navigate to System and update → Software update.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Beta program.
- Tap Apply, check all required boxes, and follow the instructions on-screen.
- Once approved, you’ll receive the ColorOS 16 beta through an OTA update.
Since it’s a major software update, the package size will likely be large. Oppo recommends downloading it over Wi-Fi and ensuring your phone has at least 40% battery before installation.
Things to Keep in Mind
Even though the Open Beta is more stable than previous builds, it’s still a test version. Minor bugs, app crashes, and compatibility issues are expected. Oppo has also noted that after updating, the system will run optimizations in the background, which may cause temporary battery drain or higher power consumption for the first couple of days.
What's Next for Oppo
The timing of this beta also lines up with Oppo's upcoming flagship series launch. The company is set to unveil the Oppo Find X9 series in India in November 2025, featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC and ColorOS 16 pre-installed. The new lineup will debut first in China on October 16, with both Find X9 and Find X9 Pro models expected.
