Computex 2025: Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 Will Launch in September—Here’s What to Expect

Qualcomm is turning up the heat in 2025. The company announced during its keynote at COMPUTEX 2025 that its annual Snapdragon Summit will take place from September 23rd to 25th, 2025, in Hawaii.

It's almost a month earlier than last year's event, and this shift isn't just about timing, it's a clear signal that Qualcomm wants to get a jump on the competition. And with major releases lined up, it's easy to see why.

Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

The centerpiece of this year's Snapdragon Summit is expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (SM8850), the direct successor to last year's 8 Elite. According to reports, Qualcomm is stepping up its game with TSMC's N3P process node, which brings improved power efficiency and higher performance.

But it's not just about efficiency. The Adreno 840 GPU is set to make its debut with this chipset, promising up to 30% faster graphics performance compared to its predecessor. And if the rumors are accurate, the 8 Elite 2 will also feature a 6+2 CPU core layout, enhanced Pegasus CPU cores, and clock speeds that could hit 5GHz.

That's not all. Qualcomm is rumored to bring LPDDR6 RAM support for the first time, which is expected to deliver even faster data speeds. This makes the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 a serious contender against Apple's iPhone 17 series, which is expected to launch just weeks before Qualcomm's big reveal.

We're also expecting brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, iQOO, and HONOR to be the first to showcase the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in their flagship models, with launches expected by late September and early October.

Snapdragon X Elite 2

Mobile isn't the only frontier Qualcomm is eyeing. The company is also planning to showcase its Snapdragon X Elite 2 (or Snapdragon X2 Elite), which will power next-gen Windows laptops. If you remember, the original Snapdragon X Elite made waves back in 2023 as a serious alternative to Intel and AMD processors in ultrabooks and 2-in-1 laptops.

This time around, the X Elite 2 is expected to build on that momentum, possibly targeting flagship Windows devices like Microsoft's Surface lineup. However, there's a bit of a catch-it might not make its way to market until 2026.
