Exclusive: Huawei is not chasing market share, says company's Top-Man
Globally P20 Pro is very successful and we are making it available in India because we make sure that this kind of phone is not missed by those who love it
While all smartphone companies in India are fighting for achieving a decent market share, Chinese smartphone manufacturer - Huawei which recently launched its much-awaited P20 Pro and P20 lite in India is up for a different race.
"We are not chasing any market share because we wanted to take a position in master photography," P. Sanjeev, Vice President, Sales, Huawei Consumer Business Group told GizBot. He further went on to say that Huawei is only focusing on bringing those smartphones in the country which are very popular globally.
Sanjeev said, "Globally P20 Pro is very successful and we are making it available in India because we make sure that this kind of phone is not missed by those who love it."
Meanwhile, the company is also planning to bring P20 Pro and P 20 lite offline within next three months.
"At this moment, both the smartphones will be available on Amazon but we will partner with top retailers in metros," he replied when asked about its plans related to the offline release.
According to Huawei, customers buying P20 Pro will get the instant discount of Rs. 5,000 using an Axis Bank credit/ debit card. This offer is available only from 2nd to 7th May 2018.
In addition, the customers can also avail exchange offers of up to Rs 6,000. Priced at Rs 64,999, the device will be selling with no-cost EMI options up to 12 months, starting at Rs. 5417/month.
The P20 Lite, on the other hand, comes with a no-cost EMI option for up to 12 Months, starting at Rs. 1,667 per month and also offers an exchange option of up to Rs 2,000.
The company has also partnered with India's second largest telecom service provider Vodafone to offer 100 GB additional data to customers buying new devices. As per the company, these special offers can be availed between May 2 to May 7, 2018.
Through its partnership with Vodafone, Huawei will provide additional 100 GB of free data over 10 recharges for a period of 10 months to the customers buying Huawei P20 Pro. However, P20 lite buyers with prepaid service will be required to recharge with Rs. 199 or above to be entitled to this offer. At the same time, post-paid customers will get 10GB free data extra for 10 months on any Vodafone RED plan starting at Rs. 399.
When asked about the competition, Huawei's top-man said, "Huawei does not compete with other Chinese players because we are operating in a different league."
