February 2023 Android Security Patch Arrives for Pixel Phones
Google is rolling out the February 2023 security patch for Pixel smartphones. The update has already been released for the Pixel 4a and will make its way to other Pixel phones over the course of the week. Here's what the latest security patch fixes:
February 2023 Pixel Update: Bug Fixes
Google's February 2023 security update for the Pixel includes several bug fixes. The patch resolves an issue that results in instability when Clear Calling is used in "certain conditions." There's also a fix for a problem that prevented touch interaction with the Braille keyboard. The patch also fixes a bug which did not allow the phone to connect with certain Bluetooth devices. Additionally, the fix addresses an issue that stopped the Work profile calendar from updating in the background.
How to Get the Latest Pixel Update
The February 2023 update is rolling out to all Pixel devices running Android 13. Google is releasing the security patch in phases, and users will be notified when the OTA rolls out.
Global Pixel devices will receive build TQ1A.230205.002. In the US, subscribers of T-Mobile and Google Fi will get build TQ1A.230205.001.D2. Canadian Pixel 4a devices will get build TQ1A.230205.001.B2, while Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro devices in Australia will be eligible for build TQ1A.230205.001.A2.
Pixel users can get the February 2023 patch by heading over to Settings > System > System update and selecting "Check for update." Those who'd rather go the manual route can opt for OTA files and factory images.
Google is already preparing for the March 2023 update, which will bring the next feature drop of the Android 13 Quarterly Platform Release 2 Beta 3. Users who have signed up for the Android 13 beta program will be able to access the new features. It is rumored that the company's Android 14's first developer preview is also in the works.
