Google Expands Its Magic Eraser Feature to Google One Subscribers and Pixel Owners

Google's Magic Eraser feature, which removes people and objects from images quickly without the need for photo editing apps like Photoshop, is now available to Google One subscribers on Android and iOS. Those who still own older Pixel phones will receive this upgrade for free.

Google's Magic Eraser Was an Exclusive Feature of the Pixel 6 and 7

The Magic Eraser feature debuted with the Pixel 6, the first smartphone to include Google's in-house Tensor chipset for tighter software-hardware integration and to power the company's AI tasks.

The feature was also a part of the Pixel 7 series and has remained an exclusive perk of both smartphone generations since then.

But that is about to change, as Google has begun rolling out its Magic Eraser feature to all its users. All Pixel users and Google One subscribers who use the Google Photos app on Android and iOS will be able to avail of this feature.

This feature is included with all Google One-tier memberships. This feature is also available for free to Pixel 5A and earlier users.

New Photo Editing Features Are Also Making the Cut

In addition to Magic Eraser, Google is bringing an HDR video effect that, like in Photos, can adjust the contrast between dark foregrounds and bright backgrounds. You can use it to make your videos more dramatic and balanced.

The collage editor is also getting new features, including a new set of Styles that users can choose. Users can also choose to apply a Style to only one photo in the collage. Non-Google One users will also be able to use the latter feature.

According to Google, Magic Eraser, the HDR effect, and the new collage Styles will start rolling out to users today. However, these features won’t be available to all users globally until a few weeks.

What is Google One?

For the unaware, Google One is a Google subscription plan that includes additional editing features such as Portrait Blur, Portrait Light, Color Pop, and recent new additions such as Magic Eraser and HDR video effects.
