Google Pixel 9a Tipped to Launch in India on March 20: Expected Price, Specs, and More

Google’s Pixel 9a, the latest addition to its A-series lineup, is expected to launch globally on March 19, with an India release set for March 20, according to tipster Yogesh Brar.

While Google hasn’t officially confirmed these dates, the Pixel 9a is rumored to bring notable design and performance upgrades over the Pixel 8a.

Earlier leaks have indicated that Google will introduce some design changes to the Pixel 9a, removing the signature camera bump and opting for a flatter rear panel. The phone is also expected to launch in four new vibrant colors—Iris, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain—which would bring a fresh aesthetic to Google’s budget lineup.

Expected Display and Performance Upgrades

The Pixel 9a is said to feature a 6.28-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with HDR10+ support and a 120Hz refresh rate—a bump from previous A-series models. It could also reach 2,700 nits of peak brightness, making it more visible in bright outdoor conditions.

Under the hood, the Google Tensor G4 chipset is expected to power the device, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This would be a significant performance jump, enhancing AI-powered features, camera processing, and battery efficiency.

Camera and Battery Expectations

Google’s Pixel cameras are known for their computational photography, and the Pixel 9a is rumored to sport a 48MP primary sensor alongside a 13MP ultrawide lens. The front camera is expected to be 13MP, suitable for selfies and video calls.

The device may also get a 5,100mAh battery, which, combined with Google’s software optimizations, could offer better battery life. Additionally, an IP68 rating is expected, making the phone more resistant to dust and water.

Expected Pricing in India

The Pixel 9a could launch in India at ₹52,999 for the base model, while the higher-end variant may exceed ₹62,000. However, Google’s official pricing will only be confirmed at launch.
