HTC U11 Plus with 18:9 full-screen design to be launched on November 11

HTC's R&D division has been acquired by Google but the former has confirmed that it still has the R&D team that designed the flagship smartphone - HTC U11.

HTC has revealed that they are working on the next flagship smartphone dubbed HTC U11 Plus that will feature a full-screen design as seen on a slew of premium and flagship models in the past few months. A report by French publication FrAndroid has revealed some interesting details about the upcoming HTC flagship smartphone.

Going by the recent speculation, the HTC U11 Plus could be codenamed Ocean Master. Similar to the other high-end flagship smartphones, this one from HTC is also believed to feature a full-screen design surrounded by minimal bezels. As per the report, the U11 Plus will sport a 5.99-inch display that is made by Japan Display. It goes without saying that this screen will have an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The report further goes on stating that the HTC U11 Plus will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. The handset is likely to be launched in two variants - one with 4GB RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage and the other with 6GB RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The device is believed to feature a 12MP main camera similar to the one on the HTC U11 and an 8MP selfie camera. The battery capacity is not known for now but it said to support the Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology.

As the existing HTC U11, its sequel is also believed to feature the squeezable frame with the Edge Sense feature. The smartphone is likely to arrive with the IP68 certification for water and dust resistance and sport a premium design.

According to the report, the HTC U11 Plus will be launched in China on November 11 as the company is likely prepping to regain its lost market share in the country. The availability of the device in the other markets remains unknown for now. Apart from the launch date, the report hints that this flagship smartphone will be priced attractively.
