Huawei Maimang 6 launched: Comes with four cameras and almost bezel-less display

As scheduled, Huawei has officially announced its new phone, the Maimang 6 in China. The handset is basically the successor to last year's Maimang 5 or Huawei G9 as known in markets outside China.

The new smartphone comes with pretty significant upgrades like additional cameras and larger display over its predecessor. However, one thing that is not clear right now is the name of Maimang 6 outside China. Reports have suggested that the smartphone will be launched as Huawei Mate 10 Lite or G10 in markets outside China.

Huawei Maimang 6 is priced at CNY 2,399 (approximately Rs. 23,600) and it comes in Obsidian Black, Streamer Gold and Aurora Blue color variants. Pre-orders are up for Chinese consumers and the device will start shipping from September 30 onwards.

In any case, let's now look at what Huawei Maiming 6 has to offer.

Display, Processors, RAM and Storage

To begin with, Huawei Maimang 6 sports a unibody metal design and comes with a 5.9-inch full HD+ display with 2160x1080 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display also gets a 2.5D curved glass on top.

The handset is powered by a 2.36 GHz Octa-core Kirin 659 processor which is paired with Mali-T830 MP2 GPU and 4GB RAM. The smartphone offers 64GB internal memory which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD.

Cameras

Talking about one of the major highlights of this smartphone the cameras Huawei Maimang 6 is equipped with four cameras at the front and the back.

At the rear, the dual camera setup compromises of a 16-megapixel sensor with dual-tone LED flash and a secondary 2-megapixel sensor. The rear cameras are supported by dual-tone LED flash, BSI CMOS Sensor, Digital Zoom, and Auto Focus (Supports PDAF) technology.

At the front, there is 13 megapixel + 2-megapixel sensors which are supported by soft LED flash, and the cameras have a fixed focal length.

Other Features

Huawei Maimang 6 also features a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device below the dual camera setup. The handset is backed by a 3340mAh battery and it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with EMUI 5.1 skin on top of it.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2 with Apt-X, GPS/GLONASS, NFC, MicroUSB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack. Sensor on-board include Gravity, Light, Proximity, Compass. As for the dimensions, the handset measures 156.2 × 75.2 × 7.5mm and weighs around 164 grams.
