Huawei P20 to arrive with 18.7:9 display setting a new dimension in the full-screen design trend
Since 2017, several smartphone makers have started adopting the full-screen design with 18:9 aspect ratio display instead of the 16:9 aspect ratio. Especially, this trend is being adopted for the high-end smartphones. Now, it looks Huawei is all set to adapt to a new dimension in the existing full-screen design trend with the launch of the Huawei P20. The recent reports regarding the device show that the P20 will bestow an unusual display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio instead of 18:9 that is seen in the other high-end smartphones.
Usually, HTML compliance benchmark tests performed with a mobile browser show only 1/3 of the real resolution of the devices. And, the same for the Huawei P20 has shown the resolution to be 360 x 748 pixels tipping that the actual resolution will be 1080 x 2244 pixels. A GSMArena report that has spotted the HTML compliance benchmark test of Huawei P20 thereby claims that the P20's screen might have an aspect ratio of 18.7:9.
With a high resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels, the Huawei smartphone will definitely have an eye-popping display and is likely to feature a notch at the upper part of the display similar to the one we have seen on the Apple iPhone X. Also, the screen-to-body ratio of the smartphone will be quite higher than what we have seen on the existing premium smartphones.
Android Oreo out-of-the-box
In addition to revealing the resolution, the test also shows that the Huawei P20 might carry the codename EML-AL00 and arrive with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. The presence of Android Oreo should not be surprising as the smartphone is a flagship device to be launched by the company.
Four variants of Huawei P20 expected
The previous reports have tipped that we can expect to see at least four models of the Huawei P20 including Standard, Pro, Plus, and Lite. Expect for the Lite variant, the other models of the P20 are said to feature a triple camera setup in partnership with Leica. This camera is likely to have 40MP resolution and 5x hybrid zoom. The selfie camera on these models are said to be a 24MP sensor also developed by Leica.
AI-ready processor
Apart from these, we can expect the Huawei P20 to feature the 3D facial recognition technology for more security. The smartphone is expected to make use of an octa-core Kirin 970 SoC teamed up with 6GB or 8GB RAM. This processor has a dedicated Neural Processing Unit for AI.
