Huawei P20 live images show glass sandwich design with triple rear cameras
Huawei P20 will get unveiled on March 27 along with the P20 Plus and P20 Lite.
Huawei P20 series will get unveiled on March 27 in Paris, France. The company presumably chose not to announce its flagship smartphones at MWC 2018 to avoid being overshadowed by Samsung's Galaxy S9 duo. As per the information we have obtained so far, the P20 series will include the regular P20, P20 Plus and the P20 Lite.
Late last week, the Huawei P20 made its way to TENAA. The Chinese certifications site now has a few images of the smartphone. And now, Slashleaks has posted a some hands-on images of the P20. The first thing you will notice about the alleged P20 is how beautiful it looks. Huawei has apparently adopted an all glass design on its upcoming flagship device.
Glass sandwich design
As shown in the image above, the Huawei P20 sports a glass sandwich design with a metal mid-frame. The front part of the smartphone houses an edge-to-edge display with no physical button. The front camera is placed at the top left corner of the handset. Just like most of the flagships these days, the P20 features really narrow bezels.
Triple rear cameras
The rear panel of the Huawei P20 is also made of glass. This means it will be a fingerprint magnet. Moreover, since the phone comes with a glass back, it could support wireless charging.
At the top, there is a Leica-branded triple camera setup. The image sensors are placed horizontally with a dual-tone LED flash in between the image sensors. The triple camera setup is said to be a combination of a regular, Monochrome and Telephoto lens.
The bottom edge of the smartphone bears a USB type-C port flanked by the speaker grill on the right and the 3.5mm jack on the left.
What's unusual is that the fingerprint scanner is nowhere to be seen. This suggests the P20 could ship with either a side mounted fingerprint scanner or an under-screen fingerprint reader. There is a slight chance that Huawei may have decided to ditch the fingerprint scanner in favor of a facial recognition system.
Under the hood
From what we have been hearing so far, the Huawei P20 will be powered by the company's own Hi-Silicon Kirin 970 processor. It will also run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system right out of the box. The smartphone is also expected to come equipped with AI-based features.
