iPhone 15 Series Could Cost Way More Than iPhone 14 Due to Rising Production Costs

The upcoming iPhone 15 series could be much pricier than its predecessor, according to the latest report. The rise in the cost could be attributed to price hikes by TSMC, which is a major component supplier for Apple.

Additionally, it is reported that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will inherit the iPhone 14 Pro's primary camera sensor. This goes against previous reports suggesting that the smartphone will get a new 48MP Sony IMX903 camera sensor.

Apple iPhone 15 to Get Pricier?

According to tipster Revegnus, the upcoming iPhone 15 lineup will be much more expensive than the iPhone 14 series. He claims that the price of the vanilla iPhone 15 could go up by 12 percent, while the iPhone 15 Pro could see a steeper hike at 20 percent.

One of the major reasons behind the price hike could be TSMC's increased production costs. Just last month, it was reported that the iPhone 15 Pro models will see a price bump. Analyst Jeff Pu attributed the purported hike to hardware upgrades.

iPhone 15 Pro Max Rumored Camera Specs

The report also states that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature the same main camera as the iPhone 14 Pro models, contrary to previous rumors suggesting a 48MP Sony IMX903 sensor. The tipster claims that the iPhone 16 Pro will get the IMX903 sensor instead.

As for the other camera specs, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will supposedly sport a periscope lens with 6x optical zoom and a 3x telephoto lens. The periscope lens will likely be restricted to the high-end iPhone 15 Pro Max to differentiate it from the lower-end models.

iPhone 15 Rumored Features

The iPhone 15 series is expected to feature four models, which will include the vanilla iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone Max, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 Pro Max will reportedly sport the thinnest bezels seen on any smartphone till date.

All four models will feature a Dynamic Island and a USB Type-C port. While the Pro models will support USB 3.2 speeds, the basic iPhone 15 will get USB 2.0 speeds. Additionally, all Pro versions will sport a titanium body.
