iQOO 12 Gets an Extra Year of Software Support, Will Receive Updates Up to Android 18
If you own an iQOO 12, there's some good news-your device will now receive four years of OS updates and five years of security patches. This is a notable upgrade from the three-year OS and four-year security update policy that was originally promised at launch.
With this change, iQOO is ensuring that the iQOO 12 stays relevant and secure until at least 2028, bringing it in line with the industry's growing push for longer software support on flagship devices.

What's Changing with iQOO 12's Software Policy?
When the iQOO 12 debuted in 2023, it launched with Android 14-based FunTouch OS. Initially, it was set to receive three major OS updates, meaning users would get updates up to Android 17. However, with the new policy, iQOO 12 users will now be able to upgrade their phones up to Android 18, ensuring they continue to receive the latest features and optimizations for an extra year.
Security updates are also being extended by an additional year, meaning the device will receive regular patches until 2028.
How This Benefits iQOO 12 Users
For iQOO 12 owners, this means longer software relevance and better security without needing to upgrade their device too soon. Here's why this change matters:
- Extended OS support: New Android versions bring fresh features, UI improvements, and optimizations that keep the device running smoothly.
- Stronger security: Five years of security patches ensure that the phone remains protected from vulnerabilities.
- Improved resale value: A phone with longer software support holds its value better in the second-hand market.
