According to fresh comments from reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the compact iQOO project has been put on hold again, suggesting it may be shelved altogether.

iQOO 15 Mini Project Is Reportedly Suspended

In a recent Weibo interaction, Digital Chat Station responded to a user asking about iQOO’s compact phone, commonly referred to as the iQOO 15 Mini. The response was blunt. The project is currently suspended.

This lines up with earlier reports from November, where the same tipster said iQOO had stopped development. A later leak briefly suggested the phone was still alive, but this latest update points back to cancellation rather than delay.

At this point, there’s no indication that the iQOO 15 Mini is moving forward.

Compact Phones Are Losing Momentum

The bigger picture helps explain why this might be happening. In another post, Digital Chat Station hinted that compact smartphones are losing traction across the industry. Instead, at least two major parent brands are planning larger, higher-end flagships for 2026.

These upcoming devices are expected to sit above standard flagship models, offering better cameras, stronger sustained performance, and larger batteries. Think “Plus” or “Max” branding rather than “Mini.”

That shift says a lot about where brands think demand is headed.

Compact flagship phones sound great on paper, but they come with real trade-offs. Packing top-tier chips, advanced cameras, and large batteries into a smaller body drives up development costs. Even then, compromises usually remain, especially around battery life and thermal performance.

The result is often a phone that costs more but doesn’t clearly outperform its larger sibling. That’s a hard pitch to make at scale.

Even upcoming compact-style flagships like the OnePlus 15s or 15T are rumored to miss features such as an ultra-wide camera or wireless charging, despite being positioned as premium devices. That reality likely makes brands more cautious about investing heavily in small-screen flagships.

What the iQOO 15 Mini Was Supposed to Be

Before reports of cancellation surfaced, the iQOO 15 Mini was tipped to feature a 6.31-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution, powered by a Dimensity 9500 or 9500+ chipset. It was also said to pack a battery larger than 7,000mAh, along with a metal frame and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.

A launch around April 2026 was speculated, but with development now reportedly paused, that timeline no longer seems realistic.
