iQOO 16 Launch Date Set for September 29: 165Hz 2K AMOLED Display, Triple Cameras, Snapdragon Chip Confirmed

iQOO is gearing up to launch its next-generation flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16, in China later this month. The company has confirmed the launch date and revealed several details about its display, while leaks have also shed light on the phone's expected performance, cameras and battery.

iQOO 16 Launch Date: What to Expect

The iQOO 16 will launch in China on September 29 at 7:00 PM local time or 04:30 pm IST. The company has also confirmed that the smartphone will go on sale immediately after the launch event.

iQOO has yet to reveal the complete specifications of the handset, including its processor, battery and camera setup. However, the company appears to be taking an aggressive approach with the standard iQOO 16, positioning it against higher-end Pro Max models from rival brands.

iQOO 16 Specifications and Features

The iQOO 16 is expected to feature Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon flagship chipset, paired with iQOO's Q4 gaming chip. The phone could also get upgraded vibration motors and speakers, aimed at delivering a more immersive gaming experience.

For the display, the smartphone will reportedly feature a 2K LEAD 2.0 Samsung Display panel using M16 luminescent material. It supports a 165Hz refresh rate at 2K resolution, along with up to 500Hz multi-finger touch sampling. The screen is rated for up to 2,800 nits global peak brightness and 10,000 nits local peak brightness, while also supporting high-frequency PWM dimming up to 3,300Hz and DC dimming.

Powering the phone could be an 8,400mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. This would give the iQOO 16 one of the larger batteries in the flagship smartphone segment.

For photography, the rear camera setup is tipped to comprise a 50-megapixel primary sensor with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

The smartphone could be offered in four configurations: 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB. It is expected to run OriginOS 7 based on Android 17 and could carry IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
