Lava has announced a new smartphone dubbed Z60 without much fanfare. The Lava Z60 was spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking database previously revealing its key specifications and the same specs are now official as well.

The smartphone is priced at Rs. 6,499 and comes in two color options - Black and Gold. With a price tag of Rs. 6,499, this smartphone will compete against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 4, Redmi 4A, Nokia 3, and Moto C Plus those are available in the budget smartphone market. As an added attraction, Lava is offering two years of warranty for many of its smartphones including the latest one.

Lava Z60 flaunts a 5-inch FWVGA display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels resulting in a pixel density of 196 ppi. The screen has 2.5D curved glass on top as well. At its heart, there operates a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 SoC clocked at 1.2GHz teamed up with 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded further up to 32GB using a microSD card. The Lava Z60 was launched with Android 7.0 Nougat based on the Star OS out of the box. For now, the chances for the device to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update seems bleak.

When it comes to the imaging aspects, the Lava Z60 boasts of a 5MP main camera at its rear accompanied with LED flash, autofocus, bokeh mode, and beautification. Up front, there is a 5MP selfie camera with LED flash for low light selfies. The connectivity aspects on board the Lava smartphone are 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi and dual SIM support. A 2500mAh battery powers the smartphone rendering a decent backup to the device under moderate usage.
