Oppo Reno 2 is just a few months old and so soon speculations regarding the Oppo Reno 3 have started making rounds online. It looks like the Reno 3 is in the making already and could see the light of the day any time soon.

Earlier this month, a report citing the details revealed by a tipster suggested that the Oppo Reno 3 could be launched with a quad-camera setup at its rear. The report further stated that there will be a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with a fast refresh rate of 90Hz. Even the possible pricing and storage options of the upcoming smartphone were hinted.

In a recent development, Oppo took the wraps off the ColorOS 7, its latest custom skin iteration with a slew of new features. It also confirmed the existence of the Reno 3 5G. Furthermore, the company also revealed that the Reno 3 5G will be the first smartphone to run ColorOS 7 UI and is likely to be announced with the other devices in the Reno 3 series next month.

Oppo Reno 3 To Support Dual-Mode 5G

New screenshots alleged to be those of the Oppo Reno 3 suggest that this smartphone could arrive with support for 5G dual-mode. The leaked screenshot shows the SIM card settings page with toggles to switch on 5G and other 5G related options.

Furthermore, it shows that there will be smart network switching options to let the device seamlessly switch between 4G and 5G connections. The Smart 5G option is likely to improve the battery life considerable by connecting to 4G networks when the 5G coverage is poor. This saves the battery life as the device need not search for 5G networks.

Is It Time For Affordable 5G Phones?

Recently, Chinese telecoms launched the world's largest 5G mobile phone network. As it is on the boom in the country, many smartphone makers are gearing up to incorporate 5G support in budget smartphones.

If the reports turn out to be true, then the Oppo Reno 3 will be the first device to use the new Qualcomm dual-mode 5G chipset. There are claims that it will arrive with the Snapdragon 735 SoC and have quad cameras at the rear.
