Unlike last year, LG will not unveil its 2018 flagship G7 at the upcoming MWC in February.

Last year, LG was the first one to unveil its flagship smartphone G6. This is why the smartphone came with Snapdragon 821 instead of the Snapdragon 835. While the Snapdragon 835 SoC was announced at CES, it was not made available by the time G6 was launched. Since you would usually expect a flagship to feature the latest and the greatest processor around, the G6 failed to make an impact as a flagship device. Yesterday, we came across a piece of information suggesting that the South Korean OEM may take the same route with the upcoming G7. The "Future LG G7" was listed on the company's website with Fast Charge 4.0 support, which is the standard quick charge technology present in 2017's Snapdragon 835.

LG G7 launch delayed; mass production to begin in March

This gave birth to speculations that LG may launch the G7 with Snapdragon 835 instead of Qualcomm's latest flagship processor Snapdragon 845. We are yet to know if the company is actually planning that, but if the speculations are true, it will disappoint many LG fans out there. On the contrary, South Korean publication ET News has reported that the upcoming G7 will arrive with the Snapdragon 845.

The report has further claimed that the G7 won't be unveiled at the MWC 2018, which is slated to take place in February. The mass production of the smartphone will only begin in March, followed by a launch in April in South Korea. The company has apparently confirmed to have agreed to launch the handset with three mobile communications services in April.

"LG Electronics is not likely to release the LG G7 at MWC 2018," a mobile operator official was quoted as saying to the publication said. "We heard that it was likely to be released in mid-March".

When it comes to availability, the G7 will be released in South Korea after April 20. "Domestic consumers will be able to purchase the G7 after April 20th," said another official.

Coming back to the specifications, if LG does launch the G7 will Snapdragon 845, it will be huge upgrade over last year's G6 since the latter came with Snapdragon 821. So what are the other upgrades we should expect to see on the company's 2018 flagship? Let's find out.

Well, according to this report, the G7 will be sporting a bezel-less design (no surprise there) with an OLED display. The smartphone is said to feature quad cameras, a dual camera setup at both the front and the back. It is also likely to feature 6GB RAM (the LG G6 had only 4GB of RAM).

Other than that, the G7 will also pack IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, LG Fe, wireless charging and Google Assistant. Lastly but most significantly, the smartphone is said to be equipped with iris recognition technology. If this report is to be believed, the LG G7 will be first LG device to feature iris scanning.
