MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Leak Points to All-Big Core Design and Flagship-Level GPU Power
MediaTek seems ready to step up its game again. A new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed early details about the upcoming Dimensity 8500, the next mid-to-premium tier chipset that could power several Android phones in 2026.

Built on TSMC’s 4nm Process
According to the leak, the Dimensity 8500 will be manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process and feature an 8-core setup based on ARM’s A725 architecture. In simpler terms, this means all eight cores are “big cores,” similar to what we saw on the Dimensity 8400.
The prime core reportedly hits a peak speed of 3.4GHz, slightly faster than the 3.25GHz seen on its predecessor, while the remaining cores are also expected to get higher clock speeds for better overall performance.
GPU Performance Looks Promising on Paper
The leak also mentions a Mali-G720 GPU running at around 1.5GHz, with performance estimates hovering around 2.2 million points on AnTuTu. If accurate, that puts it in the same range—or even slightly ahead—of some Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 8s Gen 4 scores.
That said, synthetic benchmarks don’t always tell the whole story. Real-world gaming, heat management, and power efficiency will ultimately decide whether MediaTek can compete at the flagship level.
Early Testing Underway
The Dimensity 8500 has reportedly already entered testing on two prototype devices. One appears to be a standard-sized mid-range phone, while the other focuses on battery endurance with a large-capacity cell.
While MediaTek hasn’t officially confirmed anything, early leaks suggest that Xiaomi’s Redmi Turbo 5 series could debut the chip first.
November Is Already Packed With Launches
The Dimensity 8500 leak arrives right as the smartphone industry enters another busy month. November is filled with big releases like the OnePlus 15, Realme GT 8 Pro, iQOO 15, and Oppo Find X9 series, along with more affordable entries such as the Moto G67 Power, Lava Agni 4, and Nothing Phone (3a) Lite.
