Mi Mix 2 to soon get Android Oreo Update; Xiaomi looking for beta testers
From the looks of it, Mi Mix 2 users will get the taste of Oreo pretty soon.
The Mi Mix 2 was launched in India in October last year with Android 7.1 Nougat OS. Xiaomi recently announced an Oreo beta update for the flagship smartphone on MIUI forum, indicating the soon arrival of Android Oreo.
Now, Xiaomi is looking for Mi Mix 2 users interested in testing the Android 8.0 Oreo beta. The company has asked users of the smartphone to register themselves for the beta testing program before January 8 at 11:59 PM (China time). It is worth mentioning that users across the world are invited to join the beta testing program. However, the mode of communication will be English and only active members of the global forum will be eligible for the testing program.
In order to become a beta tester, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 users have to install the MIUI Global Forum app on the device and go to the Recruitment section on the app's homepage. Then they have to fill in the necessary information such as IMEI number of the device.
Also, it is necessary for the users to have a QQ account in order to communicate with the other members on getting selected. Later, the company will take to its MIUI global forum to let the users know if they are selected or not.
Since it is a beta program, the software is not fully optimized and users may experience some bugs. It remains to be known when exactly the Mi Mix 2 will receive the Android Oreo update but users won't have to wait for long for a stable version of the software.
Android 8.0 Oreo update will bring in new features such as Picture-in-Picture or PIP mode, which allows users to watch videos on YouTube (or any other app) while using another app at the same time. Moreover, the update bring an enhanced battery life with enhanced Doze on Go mode offering a better background app restriction, redesigned settings app, auto-fill, adaptive icons, notification dots, and more.
Earlier this week, Mi A1 became the first Xiaomi smartphone to receive the stable Android 8.0 Oreo update. From the looks of it, Mi Mix 2 users will also get the taste of Oreo pretty soon.
