MIUI 12 Might Bring System-Wide Dark Mode To Smartphones
Xiaomi recently launched its latest generation of custom skin, the MIUI 11 based on Android 10. And, several smartphones have started getting the update of late. Going by the previous iterations of the custom ROM, even the MIUI 11 will get a few updates bringing new features and improvements. So soon, speculations regarding MIUI 12 have started emerging.
Last month, the Xiaomi General Manager of Public Relations, Xu Jieyun confirmed that the company has started working on the next iteration of custom ROM, the MIUI 12. Now, there are claims that this version of MIUI that could be launched next year might bring one of the much-awaited features.
MIUI 12 Details Out!
As per a recent Weibo post by a Xiaomi engineer, MIUI 12 is expected to bring a system-wide dark mode to Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones. Going by the previous rollout pattern by Xiaomi, the new iteration of MIUI 12 is not likely to be rolled out until Q3 2020. However, the company executive has not divulged any other details of the MIUI 12 for now.
Apart from confirming the system-wide dark mode for Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones, the engineer has turned down the recent speculation that Oppo is poaching MIUI engineers for the development of ColorOS. He added that MIUI engineers are working hard for 13 hours a day and have no time for interviews so that Oppo could poach them.
Addresses MIUI 11 Always-On Display Issue
Furthermore, the Xiaomi engineer also responded to queries regarding why MIUI 11 always-on display does not support custom GIF loop playback animations. He stated that the custom GIF animation will cause power consumption issues in always-on displays. And, for this reason, the feature is not included in MIUI 11.
What We Think
It is interesting to know that Xiaomi has already started working on MIUI 12, the next version of custom ROM. We can expect this update to be announced sometime in the third quarter of 2020 and rolled out within a few weeks of its unveiling. Apart from the system-wide dark mode, the MIUI 12 is also expected to bring a slew of other new features.
