MIUI 9.2 Global Stable ROM starts rolling out for first batch of Xiaomi devices

Xiaomi has just announced that it has now released MIUI 9.2 Global stable ROM for its smartphones. The company via its forum page announced the news and the company has said that the rollout is happening for the first set of selected handsets. The devices that are receiving the update are Redmi 5A, Redmi Y1 Lite, Redmi Y1, Mi Mix 2, Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi 4 Prime, Mi 3, Mi 4, and Mi Note. However, Xiaomi has already confirmed that the update will be coming for 40 of its smartphones.

In any case, the first batch of Xiaomi devices are getting the update. The company has also provided the full changelog of MIUI 9.2 in its forum page. The update includes new features such as Mi Mover, a new app lock, a distance sensor dynamic calibration function, simplified UI, among others.

MIUI 9.2 update also brings the much-awaited App Vault feature that can be accessed by swiping right from the home screen. The feature brings easy access to frequently used Shortcuts, apart from Notes, Calendar Events, and Cricket widgets.

The changelog further states that the update brings optimizations to the icons section as well as system improvements which include a new distance sensor dynamic calibration function to make sure black screen appears correctly.

The home screen has also received several optimizations for clock widget supported themes, moving app icons into folders, and adding widgets to an empty spot. Additionally, there is a fix in the Gallery for image compression.

Apart from that, Mi Account will get a reduced number of push notifications when the user is signed out and there are a couple of optimizations on Mi Drop such as fixing issues with loading big GIFs and time sorting for received files.

"After our developers' continuous hard work, MIUI 9.2 Global Stable ROM has been released for some devices. At the same time, we are also trying our best to gradually release the update for other devices. But it may take some time. Hope you can wait patiently. Thanks for your understanding," Xiaomi has said.

How to Upgrade to MIUI 9.2?

The upgrade method might depend on the MIUI version that is currently used on the device. To update to the latest version, users running MIUI 5, MIUI 6, MIUI 7, or MIUI 8 can update directly through OTA or by manually flashing the ROM or by using Mi PC suite.

If users are using MIUI China developer / stable version or Global beta version, they can flash the full ROMs in recovery mode after wiping all user data.
