Motorola Edge 40 Pro Surfaces On Geekbench: Is It Rebranded Moto X40?

Motorola seems to be actively testing its next flagship-grade Android smartphone. The Motorola Edge 40 Pro surfaced on Geekbench recently, indicating that the Lenovo-owned brand is readying the device for global markets. On Geekbench, the Motorola smartphone scored impressively in both single-core and multi-core tests. Let's look at some of the available details of this upcoming premium Android smartphone, likely to launch this quarter.

Motorola Edge 40 Pro Appears On Geekbench

Motorola launched the Motorola Moto X40 in China last year. While the X40 is Motorola's flagship device, its launch was limited to China. Multiple reports now suggest that the company has plans to launch the Moto X40 internationally. Since Motorola could rebrand the same device to launch in international martkets, the appearance of the Motorola Edge 40 Pro on Geekbench has prompted rumors that this device is the global variant of the Moto X40.

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro smartphone scored 1480 in the single-core tests and 4889 points in the multi-core tests. These scores are similar to most of the premium flagship Android smartphones, such as the OnePlus 11 and iQOO 11, which pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

If the Motorola Edge 40 Pro seen on Geekbench is truly a rebranded version of the Moto X40, the smartphone will feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, DC Dimming, HDR, and 10bit colors. The 1080p display will have a curved screen and a punch-hole cutout to house a massive 60MP front-facing camera. The screen of the Moto X40 hides an under-display fingerprint scanner.

The Moto X40 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with an Adreno 740 GPU. The smartphone is available with either 8GB or 12GB RAM, and buyers can choose between 128 GB, 256GB, and 512GB UFS 4.0 internal storage.

Motorola has embedded a 5000mAh battery inside the Moto X40, which supports 125W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging. The Motorola Edge 40 Pro global variant might ship with a 5000mAh battery that supports 68W wired fast charging.

The Geekbench listing confirms the Motorola Edge 40 Pro runs Android 13, but the global variant of the smartphone will likely have a layer of Motorola's MyUX custom skin on it.
