New HTC U11 update adds Bluetooth 5.0 and 60fps video recording support

This update will also improve the phone's video recording and connectivity features.

We recently reported that HTC U11 will soon get an update that will enable Bluetooth 5.0 support in the smartphone. Well, guess what?

New HTC U11 update adds Bluetooth 5.0, 60fps video recording support

HTC has just announced that the update for its flagship device can now be downloaded. The update will bring various new features that were not available in HTC U11 at the time of launch. Thanks to the new update, HTC U11 will become one of the few smartphones in the world to carry support for Bluetooth 5.0. Currently, only Samsung Galaxy S8/S8 Plus, OnePlus 5 and Xiaomi Mi 6 feature Bluetooth 5.0.

Some of you may be aware, Bluetooth 5.0 has several implications for the future IoT devices and connected home. It lets you connect the phone to your wearables, speakers, headphones, cars, and more.

For comparison, with the new support, the HTC U11 will offer greater speed and nearly four times the range as Bluetooth 4.2. Besides users will be able to maintain connections with devices up to approximately 240 meters away from the phone and the smartphone will also offer 8 times the broadcasting message capacity over Bluetooth 4.2-sporting devices.

Apart from that, this update will also improve the phone's video recording and connectivity features. We have obtained the information from the HTC Taiwan's official website. The website confirmed that a new firmware update is now being rolled out to HTC U11.

The official changelog reveals post-update, the smartphone will be able to capture videos in 1080p resolution and 60fps.

So it turns out the earlier report made the right speculations.

We are disappointed about one thing though. HTC promised its customers that more Squeeze Gestures will be added to the HTC U11, but the update hasn't done so. On the positive note, the update includes a new security patch and some stability improvements.
