Alleged Nokia 1 Android Go smartphone clears FCC
Nokia 1 alleged to have cleared FCC tipping that its launch might not take a long time.
At the MWC 2018 to happen later this month, HMD Global will unveil a slew of smartphones - the Nokia 9 flagship and the global variants of the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7. There are claims that the Finnish company might be prepping an Android Go smartphone that might go official in the coming months. Well, the talk is about the Nokia 1 and now it looks like there is fresh information about this smartphone.
A new Nokia smartphone with the model number TA-1056 has been spotted passing through the FCC certification database via GSMArena. From the FCC documentation, the device appears to be small measuring 133 x 68 mm in terms of height and width. These figures show that the device has a smaller footprint than that of the Nokia 2 that measures 143.5 x 71.3. This width shows that the device might feature a normal 16:9 display measuring around 4.5 inches.
The database further goes on revealing that the alleged Nokia device with the model number TA-1056 will have dual SIM support with Cat.4 LTE. From the location of the FCC info label, the report claims that the smartphone will have a removable battery as the label is inside the battery compartment. Also, there appears to be a conventional 3.5mm audio jack.
While the details of the Nokia TA-1056 appear to be scarce, it looks like it is an entry-level smartphone. In addition to its dimensions, the lack of 5GHz Wi-Fi and presence of basic LTE makes us believe that it will be an entry-level device from HMD's stable. Having said that, we believe that the Nokia TA-1056 is none other than the alleged Nokia 1 Android Go (Android Oreo) edition that we have been hearing about for quite some time.
Recently, the purported hands-on images of the Nokia 1 Android Go smartphone were leaked online. From the images, it looked like the smartphone will come with a metal frame and a polycarbonate body similar to previous entry-level smartphones those were launched by Nokia. Also, a few design elements of this smartphone were revealed such as the camera setup with LED flash at the rear.
The hearsay is that the device will arrive with a Snapdragon 212 SoC as in the Nokia 2 with 1GB RAM and 16GB storage space. Though 1GB RAM might be disappointing, it makes sense as it is likely to run Android Go that is a lighter version of the platform meant for the low-end devices with 1GB or lesser RAM.
