Nokia 6 (2018) has been finally unveiled by HMD Global in China. The smartphone will be released in China on January 10 before reaching the other global markets.

Being an upgraded model, the Nokia 6 (2018) features upgraded specifications such as Snapdragon 630 SoC than its predecessor and comes with many noticeable design changes too. The side profile is similar to what we have seen in the previous generation model launched last year and is robust as well. The camera module is lifted from the Nokia 5 but with a 16MP sensor.

The device comes in two variants - one with 32GB storage priced at 1499 yuan and the other with 64GB storage priced at 1699 yuan. The smartphone has been launched in two color options - Black and White. Both the variants are seen to have black bezels and reddish-copper accents around the frame and camera-flash module.

Design and Display

The Nokia 6 (2018) bestows a 5.5-inch FHD 1080p LCD display with the Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The body is claimed to be made of aluminum 6000 series. HMD has positioned the fingerprint sensor at the rear of the Nokia 6 (2018). However, this does not mean that the device will have a full-screen design with an 18:9 aspect ratio display as it features the conventional 16:9 aspect ratio. Even the recently leaked photos of the Nokia 6 (2018) showed the 16:9 display. Even the capacitive keys have been dropped in favor of on-screen keys.

Hardware

The Nokia 6 (2018) features an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor clocked at 2.2GHz (while its predecessor used the Snapdragon 430 SoC. The processor is teamed up with 4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB storage space that can be further expanded up to another 128GB using a microSD card.

Camera

The imaging aspects include a 16MP rear camera and a front-facing 8MP selfie camera with the Bothie feature that will click snaps via both the front and rear cameras and stitch them together. The Bothie feature that is already available on Nokia 8 and Nokia 7 smartphones.

Other features

The new Nokia 6 gets the power from a 3000mAh battery and features the standard connectivity aspects. The device runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and not Oreo as it is was speculated to be. There is a 3.5mm audio jack and the Nokia OZO Audio feature as well.
