The Nokia 6 that was launched in India in June at Rs. 14,999 went on sale via Amazon India on August 23. The huge demand for the smartphone resulted in emptying the stocks in just one minute. The demand for the smartphone is evident as over 1 million people had registered for the device on Amazon India.
Now, HMD Global has rolled out a software update that brings the necessary bug fixes, improvements and the August security patch too. This update measures 163MB in size and comes with a fix for the Wi-Fi compatibility issues that was faced by some users who have been reporting the same. Also, the update brings a new quick-action feature known as Screen Capture. The feature lets users to take a screenshot just by tapping on the icon on the notification panel instead of hitting both the power and volume buttons. The update also adds overall stability improvements to the device.
The Nokia 6 users who haven't received a push notification regarding the update can go to Settings → About Phone → System Update and Check for Update. Notably, the Nokia 6 smartphone in the other markets received the August security patch earlier.
While announcing the Nokia smartphones, HMD Global assured that the devices will receive timely updates and receive two years of OS update support. Also, the Nokia 3 is all set to receive the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update and the same has already been approved by the company. The Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones are all set to receive the Android Oreo and the upcoming Android P updates.
To refresh on the specifications, the Nokia 6 features an aluminum unibody build and dual speakers with Dolby Atmos audio. There is a 5.5-inch FHD 1080p IPS display with Gorilla Glass protection on top. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space that can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The imaging aspects of the Nokia 6 include a 16MP main camera with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and dual tone LED flash. Up front, there is an 8MP selfie camera with autofocus, f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree wide-angle lens. The other aspects on board the Nokia 6 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB OTG, and dual SIM support. A 3000mAh battery powers the smartphone from within rendering a decent backup.
