Nokia smartphones to get Android 7.1.2 Nougat before Oreo update

From the previous reports, we know that the Nokia smartphones will receive the Android O and Android P updates as there will be two years of OS support. We saw that HMD is testing the Android Oreo update on the flagship Nokia 8 as the images of the same were put up on Twitter. Also, there was confirmation regarding when the update will be made available to these smartphones.

Taking the clue from NokiaPowerUser, we have come to know that the Nokia smartphones will receive the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update before Android Oreo. The Nokia 8, Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 are right now running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. These smartphones will receive Android 7.1.2 Nougat and then the Android 8.0 Oreo updates. Going by a recent GFXBench listing, we can come to the assumption that the rollout of the 7.1.2 Nougat update to these phones is underway.

From the official changelog of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update, it is clear that it will bring enhanced notification stability, fingerprint swipe performance improvements, battery usage alerts, and more. Also, the update will pack a slew of bug fixes, general performance and stability improvements and other added features.

The rollout of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update to the existing Nokia smartphones sounds logical before that of the Android Oreo update. And, we already know that HMD is rolling out timely updates to its devices. This keeps us assured that both the software updates will be released without any delay.
