Notch-Less iPhone 12 Renders Are Out; Might Ditch Lightning Port

The iPhone X was the first smartphone from Apple to embrace a notch. This is also the first iPhone to replace TouchID with FaceID to offer a superior biometric authentication that is more secure and easy to access. From then on, every upcoming iPhone was equipped with FaceID with a notch cutout on the top.

 
Notch-Less iPhone 12 Renders Are Out; Might Ditch Lightning Port

This might change with the iPhone 12, at least the renders says so. According to the renders generated by Ben Geskin, the iPhone 12 series will have a completely bezel-less design that looks similar to the iPad Pro. The upcoming iPhone series is also expected to house a USB Type-C port instead of a lightning port.

 

The new iPhone has thinner bezels on all four sides and the company might replace the FaceID with a TouchID using an in-display fingerprint sensor to achieve this feat. However, several rumors also suggest that the company might also retain the Face ID system using under-display camera technology.

Might Feature Four Cameras

The renders also suggest that the iPhone 12 will come with a quad-camera setup. Besides, the typical wide-angle, ultra-wide angle, and telephoto lens the device is also expected to come with a 3D ToF sensor similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.

One major upgrade on the iPhone 12 over the iPhone 11 series will be the design and build quality. The iPhone 12 is speculated to flaunt a flat frame design similar to the iPad Pro or even the iPhone SE.

Just like the iPhone 11 series, the company is likely to launch at least three models. The iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 is will be the most affordable of the lot and the Pro series is expected to cost around $999 for the base variant.
