Nothing Phone 2a Confirmed to Feature MediaTek Dimensity 7200 PRO Chip: Will be ‘Made in India’

Nothing recently confirmed the launch date of its upcoming smartphone in India. While details about the Nothing Phone 2a are still under wraps, the handset has been leaked to great details.

However, we have new information that at least one of those details was not accurate. Nothing CEO Carl Pei that the Nothing Phone 2a wouldn't use the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset as previous speculation.

Nothing Phone 2a Chipset Confirmed

In an official post on Twitter, the company confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2a would use the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC. According to the post, the new chip is a version of the Dimensity 7200 SoC tailored for the Nothing Phone 2a.

It appears Nothing was considering using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and Snapdragon 782G chips on the Phone 2a. But settled on the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset as it appeared to be the superior option during their testing.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chip will also deliver a leap in performance over the Snapdragon 778G+ SoC on the Phone 1. The primary gains will be down to the new technology and the use of TSMC's 2nd-Gen 4nm process. Check out the other specifications we expect to see on the Nothing Phone 2a right here.

Nothing Phone 2a Made in India

In other news, Carl Pei also confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2a) would be 'Made in India.' Pei confirmed the move in a reply to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The move suggests that India is a crucial market for the brand as it will vastly improve public perception and will also help price the Phone 2a competitively by reducing import duties.

Nothing Phone 2a India Launch

The Nothing Phone 2a launch in India and globally is set to take place March 5 at 05:30 pm (IST). Following its launch in India, the Nothing Phone 2a will go on sale through Flipkart. We expect the Nothing Phone 2a price in India to start from under Rs 30,000.
