Nothing Phone (3) to Offer 7 Years of Software Updates
Nothing is all set to launch the Phone (3) globally, including in India, on July 1. It will be the company's first true flagship phone and will come with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. Ahead of the launch, the brand has also confirmed its software update policy.
Nothing Phone (3) Confirmed to Get "5+7" Software Updates
Nothing's Co-Founder and Head of Marketing, Akis Evangelidis, has confirmed that the upcoming Nothing Phone (3) will come with a "5+7" software update policy. This likely means the device will receive five years of Android updates and seven years of security patches - a significant jump from the 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches offered with the Phone (2).

Addressing why Nothing chose the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 instead of the regular 8 Gen 3, Evangelidis explained that the latter has a weaker GPU, NPU, ISP, and connectivity. Additionally, the default software support for the 8 Gen 3 is limited to 4 years of updates and 4 years of security support, while the Phone (3) will offer longer support out of the box.
