OnePlus 15 Leak Tips 7,000mAh Battery, Flat 1.5K Display, and Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 Chip

OnePlus has a history of skipping numbers for cultural reasons (remember how the OnePlus 4 never existed?). Now, it looks like history might repeat itself. Leaks suggest that there won't be a OnePlus 14 this year.

Instead, we could jump straight to the OnePlus 15, and based on what's being said online, it's shaping up to be a major shift from what we've seen in recent years.

OnePlus 15 Key Specifications Leaked Ahead of Launch

Flat is the new curved?

Let's start with the screen. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, OnePlus is planning to ditch the curved displays that have been a staple since the OnePlus 7 Pro. The OnePlus 15 is said to feature a 6.78-inch flat LTPO panel with a 1.5K resolution.

Flat screens don't just help avoid accidental touches-they're easier to protect with screen guards and are often preferred by people who game or type a lot on their phones. Add to that the ultra-thin bezels rumored to be enabled by LIPO packaging tech, and you've got a phone that's clean, symmetrical, and practical.

That battery rumor everyone's talking about

One of the more surprising leaks has to do with battery size. DCS hints that the OnePlus 15's battery will "start with a 7." That sounds like 7,000mAh, which is significantly larger than the batteries you'd find in most modern flagships.

Even more interesting? The phone might still support 100W wired and wireless charging, which would be a big win for heavy users who want quick top-ups without dealing with bulky power banks.

Of course, cramming a 7,000mAh battery into a phone usually means added thickness. But sources suggest that OnePlus is working hard to keep the design slim and manageable.

Performance first, with a familiar camera formula

Under the hood, the OnePlus 15 is expected to run on Qualcomm's next big chip-Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (SM8850). It's still a few months away from being officially revealed, but it's safe to assume better performance and power efficiency will be key goals.

Camera-wise, OnePlus seems to be playing it safe, at least for now. A/B testing is reportedly underway for a triple 50MP setup, including a main shooter, ultra-wide, and a periscope telephoto lens with roughly 3x optical zoom. That means we may not see any huge camera hardware upgrades, though tuning and software improvements are always in play.

What else is packed in?

Some smaller details have also surfaced:

  • A 0916 haptics motor for refined vibrations
  • A single-point ultrasonic fingerprint scanner
  • A fiberglass rear panel for a lightweight yet premium feel
  • An IP68/IP69 rating, making it more durable against dust and water

Launch timeline: China first, then global

If OnePlus sticks to its usual schedule, the OnePlus 15 will likely launch in China around October 2025, with a global release expected by January 2026. That would put it among the first wave of 2026 flagships-possibly even ahead of Samsung's next Galaxy S release.
