OnePlus 15 to Launch With Oppo’s New LUMO Imaging System, Ending Hasselblad Partnership

OnePlus is gearing up for a big camera overhaul with the upcoming OnePlus 15, and this time, the company’s not leaning on Hasselblad. According to OnePlus China President Li Jie, the phone will be the first to debut Oppo’s new LUMO imaging system, signaling what he calls the brand’s “next chapter” in mobile photography.

OnePlus 15 to Launch With Oppo’s New LUMO Imaging System

The announcement was made on social media, where Li described the OnePlus 15 as the company’s most photography-focused flagship to date. It’s a bold claim, considering OnePlus has been working for years to close the gap with camera leaders like Apple and Samsung.

What LUMO Imaging Brings to the Table

Li explained that the LUMO imaging system represents the highest level of imaging tech developed within the Oppo Group. The focus here isn’t just on clarity but on how the phone handles light, color, and depth, aiming for a more natural, lifelike image output.

Even though OnePlus has ended its long-running collaboration with Hasselblad, the brand is keeping parts of that legacy intact. That means you’ll still see familiar color tuning, a “Master Mode,” and the signature wide cinematic aspect ratio — features that have defined the OnePlus camera experience over the last few generations.

Camera Setup

The OnePlus 15 will reportedly pack a triple 50MP camera system on the back. The main sensor is said to be a Sony LYT-700 with optical image stabilization (OIS), joined by a 50MP OmniVision OV50D ultra-wide camera and a 50MP Samsung JN5 periscope telephoto lens offering 3.5x optical zoom.

That telephoto setup is tuned for an 85mm “golden portrait” focal length, which could deliver more flattering portraits and better depth separation. Other details include 4K 120fps Dolby Vision video recording, Pro XDR image processing, and a full focal-range high-definition output pipeline.

Beyond Cameras

Under the hood, the OnePlus 15 isn’t cutting corners either. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with a 7,300mAh battery that supports 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. That’s paired with a redesigned Glacier cooling system with dual capillary layers to help keep temperatures under control during heavy use.

On the front, you’ll get a 6.78-inch BOE X3 display with 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz adaptive refresh rate, which should make it one of the smoothest and brightest panels in its class.

Launch Timeline and Price Expectations

The OnePlus 15 is expected to launch in India around November, with reports suggesting a price tag of around £949 (roughly $1,260) for the 16GB + 512GB variant. While pricing may vary across markets, it’s clear that OnePlus is positioning this phone closer to the ultra-premium segment than ever before.
