OnePlus 3T is shown running Android Oreo in screenshots
The company had earlier teased the Oreo update for both OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3
OnePlus had earlier confirmed that OnePlus 5 along with OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo.
The company teased the Oreo update for both OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3. Now, leaked screenshots have revealed OnePlus is testing Android Oreo update for OnePlus 3T as well. At least in China. If you are not aware, OnePlus models run on HydrogenOS in China. A few days back, the HydrogenOS Firmware based on Android 8.0 was made available for OnePlus 3T.
Sadly, only Chinese customers are eligible for installing the Firmware update. Also, while the Firmware offers a few pre-installed Chinese apps, there are no Google apps. However, the update can be downloaded and flashed manually.
Furthermore, an XDA user has installed the Firmware update on his OnePlus 3T and shared screenshots of the device running Android 8.0 Oreo. As mentioned earlier, since he resides in China, his OnePlus 3T runs HydrogenOS instead of OxygenOS.
If you take a look at the screenshots, you can see the UI, Quick Setting tiles, Android Market and Icons are little different. The phone seems to have received the latest Android security patch for September.
Coming to the other image, you can see the new Emojis that are exclusively offered by Android Oreo. Then there is the option for Light and dark theme. Not only images, the XDA user has released a YouTube video showing off the new Android Oreo features added to his OnePlus 3T.
Apparently, it wouldn't be long before Chinese customers get the Android Oreo update on their OnePlus 3T. That said, it is not known when the latest iteration will be rolled out to OnePlus 3T in other countries. Hopefully, our wait will be over soon.
