OnePlus 6 India launch slated for May 17
OnePlus phones are always anticipated highly ahead of their launch, and the OnePlus 6 is no exception.
OnePlus has finally revealed the launch date of its next generation flagship. The company, in a post on Weibo, announced that the OnePlus 6 will be unveiled on May 16 at an event in Beijing, China. The event will start from 7:30 AM IST.
The OnePlus 6 will be launched in India on May 17 at an event in Mumabi, and the smartphone will go on sale exclusively on Amazon.in. The e-commerce portal now has a dedicated page for OnePlus 6. The page lets fans sign up for updates regarding the upcoming device with the 'Notify Me' button.
OnePlus phones are always anticipated highly ahead of their launch, and the OnePlus 6 is no exception. It has appeared in nearly infinite leaks so far, with OnePlus itself dropping few hints about the smartphone to keep the hype going.
From what we have been hearing so far, the OnePlus 6 will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The handset is said to retain the 3.5mm audio jack and feature dual-band Wi-Fi, a 3,450mAh battery, and a waterproof build. It is said to have dual rear cameras and a fingerprint sensor at its rear much like its predecessor.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 6 is confirmed to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, clubbed with 6GB/8GB RAM and up to 256GB inbuilt storage. The smartphone is expected to come in 64GB and 128GB storage variants as well.
On the optics front, the smartphone will be equipped with a dual rear camera setup comprising of a 20MP sensor and another 16MP sensor. For the front camera, there could be a 16MP sensor just like the OnePlus 5T.
The smartphone is further expected feature a 6.28-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2,280×1,080 pixels, resulting in the aspect ratio of 19:9. The display will have an iPhone X-like notch at the top.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau yesterday confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will have a glass back with five printed layers of Nanotech Coating. While the company didn't reveal if the smartphone will support wireless charging, but the chances are likely.
