Online discounts on Apple iPhone might soon come to an end
Are an Apple fan who is waiting for an online discount to buy your favorite iPhone? Well, you are in for a shock.
Apple has carved a niche for itself in the smartphone arena with a dedicated fanbase. However, not all those who like to own iPhones can do so as these products sell at hefty price tags. This is where the online discounts and offers on the Apple products are always welcome by fans. Usually, the online deals are too alluring and these will work out to be a better deal for the buyers in comparison to the usual pricing at which Apple sells its products.

If you are an Apple fan who is interested in buying iPhones at a discount via the e-commerce portals, then you are in for a shock. As per a recent report by The Economic Times, the online discounts on iPhones might soon be a thing of the past. According to the report, Apple's new India Head Michel Coulomb is all set to come up with a change in the company's sales strategy.
The report states that Apple India has reduced to distributor margins to 1.7% to 2.5% and has given the distributors specific responsibilities to protect the margins. Prior to this, the distributors were free to sell the company's products to any trade partner that gave them the freedom of selling the stock with online discounts so that they can gain fatter margins. Reportedly, Apple is in plans to open brick and mortar stores in the country within 2020 or 2021.
With these new sales strategy, the company can increase sales from the Apple-branded stores and put an end to the indiscriminate online discounts that distort the image of the brand. Notably, the discrepancy that exists in the online and offline pricing of its products has led to a situation in which over 50% of the iPhones sold in India were purchased via online. When it comes to the overall smartphone market, one-third of the overall sales is from the online portals.

Also, the report cites an anonymous senior executive working with Apple state that the company will indirectly control the price as it is against its policy. Apple will curb the online discounts on its products only after the existing stock is sold out. The company might also rope in another distributor in the county. But there is no official confirmation from Apple regarding its move about curbing the online discounts.
