OriginOS 7 Based on Android 17 Announced for Vivo and iQOO Smartphones: Check Top New Features Here

Vivo has announced OriginOS 7 for global markets, bringing a redesigned interface, Android 17 and a stronger focus on AI-powered features. The update introduces Jovi AI, a cross-device personal agent designed to automate tasks across smartphones, tablets and computers.

Vivo has also opened the OriginOS 7 Preview Programme in India, Thailand and Malaysia, giving selected users early access to the new software.

OriginOS 7 Preview Programme: Eligible Vivo and iQoo Phones

The OriginOS 7 Preview Programme will initially be available for the Vivo X300 Pro and select iQOO smartphones. Vivo plans to expand the programme to the Vivo X500 series, new Vivo X Fold and select V-series smartphones at a later stage.

The company has not yet shared a complete stable rollout timeline. Since these are preview builds, users can expect limited availability and potential bugs or performance issues.

Jovi AI Brings Cross-Device AI Features

The biggest highlight of OriginOS 7 is Jovi AI, which Vivo describes as a personal AI agent capable of working across connected devices.

Through Vivo Office Kit, Jovi AI can perform tasks across smartphones, tablets and desktop environments. For example, Vivo says users can ask the assistant to find a spreadsheet stored on a computer, analyse its contents and send a summary to their phone. It can also handle scheduled tasks such as compiling reports and organising files, subject to user permissions.

Vivo has introduced Jovi Security to improve transparency. The feature records actions performed by the AI agent, allowing users to review what it has done. Jovi AI also requires authorisation before performing key actions involving files or other sensitive workflows.

OriginOS 7 Design and Performance Features

OriginOS 7 introduces the Origin Design interface, featuring a new Dynamic Glow visual effect. The update also brings Origin Animation with Fluid Motion, including Spring Animation and Seamless Interaction for smoother transitions and gestures.

Performance improvements come through the Origin Smooth Engine, which optimises graphics processing, memory management and system scheduling. Vivo claims app launch times can improve by 10 percent, while app page switching can be up to 11 percent faster.

The updated Memory Fusion system is claimed to offer 60 percent more memory reclamation and free up to 25GB of additional storage on a 256GB device. Vivo also claims Dual Rendering improves rendering efficiency by 14.4 percent.

Cross-Device Connectivity

OriginOS 7 expands Cross-Ecosystem Connectivity, allowing users to hand off tasks and synchronise notes across Vivo devices, iPad, Mac and Windows PCs through Vivo Office Kit.

The global release marks a significant shift for Vivo's software strategy, with OriginOS 7 combining visual changes, performance improvements and AI-powered cross-device automation. The wider rollout timeline and complete list of supported devices are expected to be announced later.
