Philips Just Launched A Smartphone with Miravision: Offers Wide Viewing Angles And Low Power Usage
Philips have being aiming to strike gold in the smartphone industry for some time. Having initially started off by manufacturing flagship handset, Philips gradually moved on to budget and mid-range segment.
They are in fact in a device launching spree just like our local OEM Micromax by launching a new gadget every next week. Rather the company today launched a new device to their lineup in Vietnam dubbed the Philips S358.
At a price of point equivalent to $130 i.e. Rs 8,450 the Philips S358 doesn't bring some exciting specs on the platter. However the device uses a display technology dubbed MiraVision. The company claims that the new technology allows the display to deliver high resolution and DTV grade image quality despite being light on the battery.
But actual display resolution of the panel (5 inch HD) keeps me wondering what Philips was trying to achieve!

Nevertheless under the hood is 1.3GHz quad core MediaTek 6580 SoC and a 1GB of RAM. The camera department is handled by an 8MP Auto Focus Rear snapper with LED flash and 84.77 degree wide angle 8MP Fixed Focus Selfie shooter.
To power all this is a 2300mAh battery which comes with an X-Power battery saving technology. In terms of memory the Philips S358 comes with 8GB internal storage and a 32GB of external via Micro SD card slot.
The Philips S358 runs on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 is exclusively available in Vietnam. Philips may however bring this device to India in the recent future. Just in case they do, the Philips S358 will face stiff competitions from likes of Lenovo K3 Note, Yu Yureka Plus and Phicomm Passion at this price point among others.
