Pixel March Feature Drop Includes Improved Night Sight, Direct My Call, Health Connect and More

The Google Pixel smartphones are set to receive a new Feature Drop update along with the March security patch. While the update was expected to arrive by the first week of March, it still has not shown up. However, a Reddit user shared an image highlighting the features that will be coming to Pixel phones and the Pixel Watch this month.

Pixel Feature Drops are software updates that Google pushes out exclusively for its Pixel devices. This includes features introduced in the latest devices trickling down to the older ones, along with optimizations and new additions to the current generation Pixel phones.

March Feature Drop For Pixel Phones: What to Expect

According to the screenshot shared on Reddit, the Pixel 6 series is expected to receive faster Night Sight, which was introduced in the Pixel 7 smartphones. The Night Sight feature, which is Pixelspeak for night mode, will now be much faster in terms of processing thanks to new algorithms powered by the Google Tensor chip.

All Pixel phones are expected to get the Health Connect app to help share data among health and fitness apps, without compromising on privacy. Google leaves it up to the user to decide what types of data they want to share and who they want to share it with.

The Pixel 4a and above will also get the Direct My Call feature which lists down the menu options for calls to customer care and the likes, saving precious time. Users will not have to sit and listen to a lengthy recording to know what buttons to press.

The Magic Eraser feature introduced in the Pixel 7 series will be made available to all Pixel phones. The feature is also readily available to Google One subscribers, including iPhone users. Magic Eraser relies on machine learning and AI tools to remove distractions like photobombers from photos stored in Google Photos.

Lastly, the feature drop for the Pixel Watch (unavailable in India) includes Fall Detection. The Pixel Watch will now be able to detect a fall automatically and contact emergency services if you don't respond or move after 90 seconds. The feature can differentiate between a hard fall and a stumble, so it won't send unnecessary alerts. The watch will share the location and notify emergency contacts when the Fall Detection feature is triggered.
