Poco X5 5G India Launch Teased: Android Smartphone With SD695 SoC, AMOLED Screen Arriving This Month

Poco launched the 5G-enabled Poco X5 series last month. Although the Poco X5 and the Poco X5 Pro are part of the series, Poco only released the Pro variant in the Indian market. The Poco X5 was held back, but the brand has now hinted at the Indian launch of the Android smartphone.

The Poco X5 Pro 5G packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC and hence costs more. The Poco X5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, which is an older chipset, but still ensures support for 5G networks in India.

Poco Teases India Launch Of Poco X5 5G

Poco launched the Poco X5 and Poco X5 Pro in the global markets last month, but only the higher-end or the Pro variant went on sale in India. Poco's Indian operations head had recently implied the Poco X5 would land in India.

Poco India's Twitter account sent out a tweet that hints the brand will soon launch the Poco X5 5G. Moreover, the tweet also mentions the upcoming Android smartphone will sell for less than ₹20,000.

In regions where the Poco X5 5G is currently available, currently sells for slightly higher prices. The base variant of the Poco X5 5G with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage retails for $249 (approx. ₹20,500).

The top-end variant of the Poco smartphone with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage is available for an even higher price. The Indian price of the 8GB + 256GB model should be correspondingly high as well, even though the tagline reads "we're coming for you next, under Rs 20,000."

In India, the Poco X5 5G will be available exclusively on Flipkart via the "Flipkart Unique" program. The Poco smartphone should be available in Green, Blue, and Black color options. As the image suggests, the Poco X5 5G will go on sale on Match 11.

Poco X5 5G Specifications, Features

The Poco X5 features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1200nits peak brightness. The display is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and features a centered punch-hole notch.

An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, coupled with an integrated Adreno 619 GPU, powers the Poco X5 5G. The Poco smartphone ships with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and buyers can opt for 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.

The Poco X5 5G features a triple camera setup on the back, comprising a 48MP primary camera. There's an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro sensor, and an LED flash. The smartphone has a 13MP front-facing camera for selfies, video calls, and face unlock.

Poco has embedded a 5000mAh battery inside the Poco X5 5G, which supports 33W wired fast charging via a USB Type-C port. The smartphone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a micro-SD card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an IR blaster. With an IP53 rating, the Poco X5 5G offers some resistance to dust and water splashes.

The Poco X5 5G runs MIUI 13 OS for POCO, which is based on Android 12. It measures 165.88 × 76.21 × 7.98mm and weighs 189 grams.
