Qualcomm Schedules Snapdragon Event for April 2 — Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Likely to Debut
Qualcomm has confirmed an event in China on April 2, and while the company hasn’t named its product yet, all signs point to the introduction of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4—or Snapdragon 8s Elite—system-on-chip (SoC).
Positioned just below the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite, this chip aims to offer flagship-grade performance without breaching ultra-premium territory.

What to Expect from the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4
Internally identified as model number SM8735, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 breaks from tradition by featuring an all-big-core CPU layout. Instead of mixing high-performance and efficiency cores like many mobile SoCs, this one stacks Cortex-A720 cores across performance and efficiency tasks—paired with a single Cortex-X4 for raw power.
The configuration includes:
-
1x Cortex-X4 core at 3.21GHz
-
3x Cortex-A720 cores at 3.01GHz
-
2x Cortex-A720 cores at 2.80GHz
-
2x Cortex-A720 cores at 2.02GHz
This 1+3+2+2 layout is a departure from Qualcomm’s custom Oryon core strategy found in the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite. The 8s Gen 4 is also built on TSMC’s 4nm process, indicating solid energy efficiency.
Graphics and Performance
Graphics will be powered by the Adreno 825 GPU—a sibling to the Adreno 830 used in the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. While it won't match the flagship chip in core count, the Adreno 825 is still expected to perform capably for most mobile gaming and multimedia use.
According to early benchmark leaks, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 has cleared the 2 million mark on AnTuTu, positioning it between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Gen 3 chips in terms of overall performance. The chip also includes 6MB of system-level cache and 8MB of L3 cache, helping improve data throughput and multitasking responsiveness.
Which Phones Will Get the Chip?
We’re likely to see the first Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 phones launching in mid-April, right after the chipset announcement. Several Chinese OEMs have lined up their models to debut with this SoC.
Among the front-runners:
-
Redmi Turbo 4 Pro
-
iQOO Z10 Turbo Pro
-
Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro
-
Oppo K13 Pro
The iQOO Z10 Turbo Pro is currently tipped to be the first phone to hit the market with the new chip. For global markets, the POCO F7 is expected to launch as a rebranded Redmi Turbo 4 Pro. Similarly, Xiaomi might bring the Civi 5 Pro to India under the name Xiaomi 15 Civi.
