Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Announced, To Debut on Redmi Note 15 Pro+

Qualcomm has quietly introduced its latest mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. It’s not a dramatic leap forward, but it does refine the 7-series formula with faster cores, better gaming features, and stronger AI capabilities.

And it won’t be long before we see it in action, with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 15 Pro+ confirmed as the first phone to use it.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Announced, To Debut on Redmi Note 15 Pro+

What’s New in the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 builds on last year’s 7s Gen 3 with the same 1+3+4 Kryo CPU setup. The biggest tweak is the Prime Cortex-A720 core, which now clocks at 2.7GHz, up from 2.5GHz. Qualcomm says this translates to about a 7% bump in CPU performance, with the GPU also getting a similar 7% gain.

For gaming, the chip introduces Snapdragon Game Super Resolution and Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0. These features are designed to sharpen visuals and balance performance so gameplay feels smoother, even under heavy load.

Display, Camera, and Multimedia Support

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 supports displays with up to a 2,900 x 1,300 resolution at 144Hz, which makes it a good fit for gaming phones or handheld devices. Camera support stretches to 200MP sensors, with the option for 64MP photos while recording 4K HDR video at 30fps.

Qualcomm is also keeping its triple 12-bit ISP, which means phones powered by this chip will still have solid flexibility for multi-camera setups.

AI and Connectivity Features

AI performance sees a boost through the updated Hexagon NPU. It can run compact large language models such as Llama 1B and Qwen 1B, which means on-device tasks like real-time translation or advanced photo editing should feel quicker and more efficient.

On the connectivity side, the chip comes with the Snapdragon 5G modem-RF system, offering up to 2.9Gbps download speeds. Dual-SIM Dual-Active support allows users to run two 5G SIMs at once, or a 5G and 4G SIM combo. There’s also Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless, and support for Snapdragon Sound for higher-quality wireless audio.

First Device: Redmi Note 15 Pro+

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will be the first smartphone to ship with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. The launch is set for August 21 in China, making it the earliest showcase of how this chipset handles real-world workloads.
