Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Reportedly Crosses 4M on AnTuTu Benchmark—Which Phones Will Get It?
Qualcomm’s next flagship mobile chip isn’t just getting a new name, it’s also shaping up to deliver some serious performance upgrades. A fresh leak gives us a clearer picture of what the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 might look like—and which phones will get it first.

Qualcomm’s Naming Shift
Last year, Qualcomm broke away from its traditional naming scheme when it introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Instead of following it up with a predictable “8 Elite 2,” the company appears to be taking a page from its mainstream lineup. Reports suggest the new processor will carry the name Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
What the Leak Reveals
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the chip will feature two prime CPU cores clocked at 4.61GHz, paired with six performance cores running at 3.63GHz. On the graphics side, Qualcomm is reportedly using the Adreno 840 GPU, running at 1.2GHz.
Digital Chat Station also notes that Samsung is preparing a higher-binned version for its Galaxy S26 series. This variant could push the clock speed even further, reaching 4.74GHz.
Benchmark Numbers
The same leak mentions that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 posts more than 4 million points on AnTuTu, reportedly on version 11 of the benchmark. For comparison, MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9500 appears to be scoring in the same range, suggesting a competitive showdown ahead.
Which Phones Will Get It First?
Xiaomi, Honor, iQOO, OnePlus, and Realme are expected to launch the first wave of smartphones with the new chipset. These initial models will likely use the standard 4.61GHz version, with the faster Samsung variant reserved for later releases.
Launch Timeline
Qualcomm is scheduled to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 at its annual Snapdragon Summit on September 23. MediaTek will try to steal some of the spotlight with its Dimensity 9500 announcement the day before.
The month is set to be busy for the industry. Apple is also preparing to showcase its iPhone 17 lineup on September 9, complete with the new A19 Pro chip.
