Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil a new affordable smartphone in its REDMI line-up today. The REDMI 15 5G will succeed last year's REDMI 13 5G and appears to be a rebranded version of the Poco M7 Plus 5G, which was unveiled in India last week, albeit with a different design.

The REDMI 15 5G arrives as the slimmest smartphone in India to pack a 7,000 mAh battery. Moreover, it also features a tall yet super-smooth display, a Snapdragon chipset, and a 50MP dual AI camera setup.

The REDMI 15 5G is launching in India at 12 noon today. Following its launch, REDMI's new budget-friendly handset will go on sale in India through Amazon, Xiaomi's E-store, and partner retailers. We expect the REDMI 15 5G price in India to start from under Rs 15,000.

The Redmi 15 5G will feature large 6.9-inch Full HD+ display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. This screen will come with certifications like TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light, Flicker-Free, and Circadian Friendly to help reduce eye strain. For photography, the Redmi 15 5G offers a dual rear camera setup.

This includes a primary sensor of 50MP and a secondary sensor of 2MP. The front camera is likely to provide an 8MP resolution. Underneath its sleek exterior, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset. Users can expect up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage with the REDMI 15 5G.

The device will house a robust 7,000mAh battery. It supports both 33W wired charging and 18W reverse charging capabilities. Estimated usage times include up to 55.6 hours on Spotify, 23.5 hours on YouTube, and 17.5 hours on Instagram Reels.

Additionally, the phone is reported to have IP64 certification for dust and water resistance. Audio quality is expected to be enhanced with Dolby-certified sound. The Redmi 15 5G will operate on HyperOS based on Android 15.

It promises two years of operating system updates along with four years of security updates. Additional features might include Gemini integration and tools such as Circle to Search.
