Redmi A5 Launched with UNISOC Chip, 5200 mAh Battery, 120Hz Display: Could Debut as Poco C71 in India
Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi A5, a new budget-friendly 4G smartphone aimed at global markets. This device boasts a 6.88-inch HD+ LCD display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and an 8MP camera housed within its notch. It is powered by the Unisoc T7250 Octa-Core processor, offering up to 4GB of RAM and an additional 4GB of virtual RAM.
The Redmi A5 features a sleek design with a flat frame and enhanced camera deco, surrounded by a metallic-feel finish. Available in Midnight Black and Sandy Gold, it sports a matte, smudge-resistant surface. The Lake Green and Ocean Blue variants draw inspiration from nature, featuring veined patterns reminiscent of ripples on water.

Specifications and Features
This phone includes a 32MP rear camera accompanied by a secondary camera. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security. The device is equipped with a robust 5200mAh battery that supports 15W charging, promising strong battery health even after 1,000 charging cycles.
The Redmi A5's specifications include a 6.88-inch (1640 x 720 pixels) 120Hz HD+ IPS LCD screen with TÜV Rheinland-certified eye protection and DC dimming. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz Octa-Core UNISOC T7250 processor paired with Mali-G57 MP1 GPU. Users can choose between 3GB or 4GB LPDDR4X RAM options and storage capacities of either 64GB or 128GB eMMC 5.1, expandable up to 2TB via microSD.
Connectivity and Availability
Running on Android 15 (Go Edition), the phone supports dual SIM (nano + nano + microSD) functionality. Connectivity options include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BDS (only B1C), and USB Type-C port.
The device measures dimensions of 171.7 x 77.8 x 8.26mm and weighs approximately 193g. Additional features include an LED flash for the rear camera setup, an FM Radio, and a standard audio jack for headphones.
The Redmi A5 is priced starting at USD 79 (approximately Rs. 6,750), varying by market location, and is already available in several countries worldwide. In India, this model will be launched as the POCO C71 later this week.
