Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil the first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered Redmi smartphone soon. Unlike the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, the upcoming Redmi K90 Pro Max will aim to offer top-tier performance and access to Qualcomm's flagship chip at a more affordable price.

The Redmi K90 Pro Max is launching in China on October 23 at 07:00 pm local time or 04:30 pm IST. Those interested in watching the Redmi K90 series launch event live can do so on the company's official Weibo handle. It will likely make its global debut as the Poco F8 Ultra. Ahead of the launch, Redmi has revealed several key specifications of the K90 Pro Max.

The device boasts a substantial 7,560 mAh battery. It supports 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 22.5W reverse wired charging. Additionally, it is fully compatible with 100W PPS chargers.

The Redmi K90 Pro Max features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This is complemented by a new "AI independent display chip" D2. To ensure optimal performance, Xiaomi has equipped the device with its largest vapor chamber for cooling.

The smartphone sports a 6.9-inch OLED screen with a full RGB sub-pixel arrangement. It includes DC dimming across all brightness levels and a circular polarizer. The display can achieve a minimum brightness of just 1-nit, designed to be gentle on the eyes.

On the camera front, the main sensor is a 1/1.31" type, identical to that in the Xiaomi 17 model. There's also a 50 MP ultrawide camera and Redmi's inaugural periscope telephoto lens offering 5x optical zoom, along with a "lossless" zoom up to 10x and optical image stabilization (OIS).
