Samsung Extends Free Screen Replacement for Green Line-Affected Phones in India
Samsung's ongoing attempt to address the widespread green line issue affecting some of its flagship phones has taken another step forward in India. Initially limited to April 2024 and later extended to December 31, 2024, the company has now reportedly pushed the deadline further to September 30, 2025.
This information emerged through screenshots shared by tech tipster Tarun Vats on X (formerly Twitter), who received the confirmation directly from Samsung's support chat on WhatsApp. The program covers one-time free screen replacements for select models affected by vertical green lines on their displays-a defect that has surfaced in various Galaxy devices over the years.

Which Devices Are Eligible?
While Samsung hasn't released a complete public list of eligible models, service representatives have confirmed that the program applies to a range of high-end devices. These include the Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Ultra, the Galaxy S21 lineup including the S21 FE, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
However, eligibility isn't guaranteed just by owning one of these devices. The phone must be less than three years old, purchased by the original owner, and must not show signs of physical or liquid damage. An original invoice is also required to verify ownership and purchase date. Even though the replacement parts-including the screen (OCTA assembly), battery, and a rework kit-are free, labour charges may still apply.
How to Claim the Repair
Users in India can book appointments online through the Samsung Digital Service Centre website. After scheduling, they'll need to visit their nearest Samsung authorized service centre with their phone and proof of purchase. Before handing over the device, Samsung recommends backing up all personal data, as the device may be factory reset during repairs.
The company has not stated whether users who previously paid for similar repairs will be compensated.
Not the First, But Perhaps the Longest
This isn't the first time Samsung has initiated such a program. Back in April 2024, it launched a limited-time screen replacement offer for green line-affected models in India.
The program was then expanded to include out-of-warranty models and extended through the end of 2024. Now, with the deadline set to stretch through late 2025, Samsung seems to be taking a long-term approach to customer complaints around display reliability.
